Panhandle Builders and Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County Celebrate 25 Years

2011 marks the 25th anniversary of building in the Panhandle for Panhandle Builders and Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County, award-winning residential homebuilders who enhance the community through quality homebuilding and philanthropic values.

Berkeley County, W.Va.—May 9, 2011— Award-winning West Virginia builder Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County (PHBC) and its parent company, Panhandle Builders, are pleased to announce their 25th anniversary.

Founded by L. Allen Henry, David Henry and Carole Henry in 1986, Panhandle Builders has been a driving force in the commercial and industrial construction industry in the Eastern Panhandle. The company has since diversified to include various subsidiary companies, including PHBC and others.

"Reaching this milestone is an exciting accomplishment for Panhandle Homes of Berkeley County," says PHBC Marketing and Sales Director Mary Kiser Moylan. "We hope to continue to serve the area we love for years to come with thoughtful and quality building practices."

Panhandle Homes' earliest homes were constructed in the Spring Mills neighborhood, initially developed by Bruce Van Wyk. PHBC succeeded Van Wyk as developer and principal builder at Spring Mills and adjoining Hammond's Mill, leading the growth of the Spring Mills community into northern Berkeley County's residential, educational and retail hub. With more than 1,000 homes, approximately 3,000 residents, a major shopping district (also developed by Panhandle Homes' parent company, Panhandle Builders), and a full complement of public schools, Spring Mills represents one of the region's fastest-growing communities. PHBC has also developed and built high-quality homes in nearby Scenic View Estates, Eagle Ridge and Northwind.

PHBC is currently selling award-winning, tri-level garage town homes and single-level villas with two-car garages in their Hammond's Mill development. They have developed and are building in three other communities, Bridle Creek, Willow Ridge and Brookfield — the premier residential location in the area and the winner of the coveted "West Virginia Residential Subdivision of the Year" award in 2010 as presented by the Home Builders Association of West Virginia. In honor of their anniversary, PHBC is offering special incentives in each neighborhood, resulting in significant savings for homebuyers.

Always putting their community first, PHBC was recognized as the corporate philanthropist of the year by the Eastern Panhandle Community Foundation in 2007. Their company recently donated land for the Berkeley County library, as well as significantly contributed to the Martinsburg Boys and Girls Club, United Way, Habitat for Humanity and local schools, just to name a few.
